Manchester hosts successful annual British Society for Investigative Dermatology conference

At the start of April Manchester hosted the 2017 British Society for Investigative Dermatology (BSID) annual meeting, organised by Dr Helen Young, Senior Lecturer in Dermatology and Chair of the BSID, and Dr Rachel Watson, Biomarker Lead for the BRC Dermatology Theme.

Major European Commission grant to boost researchers’ quest for scanning techniques to improve arthritis and cancer drug safety

Manchester is part of a new consortium which will develop new CT and MRI scan techniques and biomarkers to look at the accumulation of compounds in the body caused by drugs and the harm they may cause – potentially improving patients’ safety and the development of new treatments.

Trial of new triple inhaler shows 20% reduction in COPD flare-ups

Manchester research has shown flare-ups in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the UK’s fourth leading cause of death, can be reduced by 20% by a combined triple inhaler.
