Manchester BRC and CRF set to benefit from a prestigious Wellcome Trust award for public engagement

The Public Programmes Team, which leads on PPIE within the BRC and CRF, has secured a five year award from the Wellcome Trust Sustaining Excellence grant scheme following a rigorous and by invitation only review process.

Major European Commission grant to boost researchers’ quest for scanning techniques to improve arthritis and cancer drug safety

Manchester is part of a new consortium which will develop new CT and MRI scan techniques and biomarkers to look at the accumulation of compounds in the body caused by drugs and the harm they may cause – potentially improving patients’ safety and the development of new treatments.

Manchester research has shown flare-ups in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, the UK’s fourth leading cause of death, can be reduced by 20% by a combined triple inhaler.
