Training Event and Seminar Series

The NIHR Manchester BRC hosts regular training events, including monthly seminars, designed to share scientific ideas, foster collaboration, and build capacity in experimental medicine. These events provide invaluable opportunities to educate, inspire, and promote partnerships that align with our mission to drive health improvements and lasting change.

Who should attend?

Our training events are open to:

  • Researchers, students, fellows, technical and operations staff, and healthcare professionals.
  • Contributors across The University of Manchester and NHS Partner Organisations, and NIHR Infrastructure.
  • Regional and national collaborators, including the Northern BRC Network.

Participation is encouraged across all levels, whether as a presenter or attendee, to support shared learning and collaboration.

Goals of the training series

  • Showcase Manchester BRC Research: Highlight the breadth of experimental medicine research and stimulate cross-disciplinary discussions.
  • Develop Core Insights: Explore key themes such as innovation, digital advancements, patient and public involvement and engagement (PPIE), and Team Science.
  • Promote the BRC Mission: Raise awareness of our goals and progress across partners and the wider community.
  • Foster Engagement: Create a diverse learning community and share development opportunities with staff, students, patients, and public stakeholders.

Inclusive Research Showcase

Monday 18 May 2026, 9.00am to 5.00pm

Core Technology Facility, 46 Grafton Street, Manchester, M13 9WU

Those working in Inclusive Research or interested in learning in how to make their research more inclusive are invited to attend. This showcase event will share learning on inclusive research, with a focus on North West England. It includes examples of research through lightning talks from early career and experienced researchers. Content will be from National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) infrastructure across Greater Manchester, with a broad focus on research culture and working in in partnership with communities. Inclusive Research Methods (IRM), Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) considerations will be embedded throughout.
