Our Infrastructure

We’re working with patients, charities, industry and others to rapidly translate our research into routine healthcare for the benefit of local people in Greater Manchester and beyond.

Improving health is one of the largest issues facing the world today. In Greater Manchester, across all ages our people are amongst those with the worst health in England.

Our world-leading capabilities in experimental medicine, and the devolution of Greater Manchester’s Health and Social Care Services, provide an unprecedented opportunity for our research to make a difference to people’s health.

However, the development of new clinical tests and treatments requires significant investment, specialist facilities and a diverse skill set.  For this reason, we work closely with patients, the public and our colleagues across Greater Manchester and wider NIHR  infrastructure, as well as investing in researchers early in their careers.  We also aim to build on our existing collaborations and engage new public, charity and industry partners to deliver on our ambitious plans.
