Innovation and Partnerships

We’re looking to build on our existing collaborations and engage with new industry, public and charity partners to deliver on our ambitious plans.

The development of new clinical tests and treatments requires significant investment, specialist facilities and a diverse skillset, only made possible through a collaborative approach. We partner with science-based organisations that have a strategic fit with our research themes and overall goal of improving people’s health through experimental research.

Our BRC is integrated within the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership, as part of Health Innovation Manchester. Our researchers are supported by a business development team,  co-located with other GM research and innovation infrastructure at Citylabs  – a world-class hub for health innovation and precision medicine, part of Europe’s largest clinical academic campus, and works closely with our Rapid Translational Incubator.

We offer partners a streamlined process, which facilitates the rapid translation of research into standard clinical practice, and is only made possible through the unique connectivity of the Greater Manchester Health and Social Care Partnership. We recognise the value that a diverse portfolio of collaborations  brings to Manchester BRC and the people of Greater Manchester.

Industry Advisory Board

Recognising that commercial uptake is an important step in enabling the wider reach and clinical impact of Manchester BRC research, we have paired with our partner Health Innovation Manchester to create an industry advisory group that helps guide our commercial strategy.

Chaired By Chris Molloy (CEO, Medicinces Discovery Catapult, BRC Governance Board) the group membership draws from the commercial life sciences, diagnostic and digital sectors and aims to:

  • provide meaningful industry insight on best routes to commercialisation in target markets.
  • act as ‘critical friends’ providing input on the attractiveness, maturity and relevance of our outputs to industry sectors, to help us shift priorities and set realistic strategic objectives.
  • help us identify the right partners to deliver our goals, acting as advocates on a global stage, in order to attract appropriate collaborations.
