Operational Performance Lead

Hema Mistry is the Operational Performance Lead for the Manchester BRC and is responsible for budget management and taking a leading role in ensuring delivery of programmes of work and further develop opportunities that meet the strategic objectives and vision of the Manchester BRC are achieved and reported back to the NIHR.

She has around 15 years experience of working in an NHS setting at different sites across Greater Manchester. Previous experience includes being a Partnerships Manager within Research & Innovation at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, where she took on operational activities by leading on the redevelopment of a sustainable model for the NCA Research Collection to allow vendors to have ease of access to biomaterial and data, NCA experts and facilities to support scientifically validated and ethically approved biomedical research.

Hema also worked at Health Innovation Manchester as Research Manager and NHS Blood and Transplant as a Laboratory Incidents Specialist where she implemented appropriate CAPA to minimise errors and promote best practice working alongside Royal colleges and regulatory bodies.

Prior to joining the NHS, Hema worked in Pharma companies such as AstraZeneca within Process, Research & Development and Analytical Teams working on drug discovery and product development projects. Hema also has worked in regulatory affairs therefore has specialised knowledge and experience of working in a R&I environment across a variety of sectors with an understanding of structures, policies, and governance.

She has a MSci in Chemistry from the University of Nottingham and completed her masters project at the University of Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy on the development of artificial chemosensors in the detection of cancer cells and is also a certified Prince2 Practitioner.
