Our Research: Respiratory

Public and patient involvement and engagement

Public and patient activities include Combat My Cough events for patients with chronic cough and their relatives and events for participants and families from the Manchester Asthma and Allergy Study.  Our vision is to make health research relevant and inclusive for everyone.

We delivered the ‘Breathtaking Lungs’ project, which culminated in a public event at Wythenshawe Forum June 2018 (‘Clean Air Day’). Patients with respiratory conditions and members of the wider public in Wythenshawe took part in discussions and focus groups, art and music activities in the lead up to the event, which aimed to raise awareness of lung health, breathing conditions and respiratory research.

We also provide a range of information and support services for patients with Aspergillus infection. The provision of live and recorded online events held by the National Aspergillosis Centre,) – that provide several means of support including factual and social – has provided a focus for patients and their carers
