Our Research: Musculoskeletal

Public and patient involvement and engagement

We place patients and the public at the centre of our musculoskeletal research.

Our Patient Involvement embeds patients and the public within decision-making processes, actively consulting them and listening to their views on translational research across every research theme.

Our Public Engagement delivers creative, innovative and accessible public programmes that inform, educat and stimulate thinking about our research among diverse audiences.

Innovative engagement platforms such as the Cloudy with a Chance of Pain app, alongside tried-and-tested interactive activities at events such as the university’s Science Spectacular and Manchester Museum of Science and Industry’s Platform for Investigation brought our research to life for a wide audience, engaging them with research on local and national levels.

Our commitment to working with patients and the public stimulated thinking about our work and empowering patients, and our researchers, to collaborate to shape current and future research.
