Diagnosing paediatric auditory deficits
How can we improve diagnosing auditory deficits in children?
Early management of hearing loss in infants is critical for improved outcomes in speech and language development. Our goal is to increase the amount of information audiologists obtain during hearing assessment of infants by making tests more engaging, less subjective, and by exploring new ways of measuring infants’ responses to sounds. We will:
- Make use of new technology to develop novel methods for assessing infant responses to sounds, including analysis of facial behaviour
- Automate elements of the assessment process to reduce subjectivity, bias, and clinical resources
- Optimise and personalise testing procedures to maximise the information clinicians can gain per session.
