We actively support the development of research careers within dermatology research.
Intercalating medical students are actively encouraged to choose an MRes project that directly links into one of the four research programmes. In addition, selected dermatology registrars are actively encouraged to obtain an MD or PhD degree with one of our research programmes and are supported in their applications for corresponding MRC funding.
The overall theme of P4 medicine will allow the MRC funded Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics Clinical Research Fellowship scheme to go from strength to strength offering research opportunities for future clinical academics, for example with the psoriasis programme and stratification of systemic therapies.
Mancunian Skin Club
We collaborate closely with the Mancunian Skin Club (MSC), its monthly seminars (open to all interested in skin research across the University), and its prestigious, by-invitation-only MSC Annual International Workshop.
The next MSC workshop ( May 4th-5th, 2017, Manchester), has purposely been dedicated to “Skin Inflammation” so as to fit optimally to the BRC Dermatology area, and will critically discuss the four BRC Dermatology programmes with a distinguished international faculty of immunology experts.
