Our Research: Cancer Precision Medicine

Our aims

Our Cancer Precision Medicine theme aims to:

  • Implement P4 medicine approaches to cancer treatment
  • Develop liquid biopsies to match patients to the treatment most likely to work for them, monitor their response and pick up emerging treatment resistance early
  • Develop patient-tumour derived cultures to test drug sensitivity in the laboratory to assist treatment selection and identify mechanisms of treatment resistance
  • Develop a new laboratory focussed on biomarkers to support trials of novel treatments that target the immune system
  • Establish liquid biopsy techniques to provide an early warning sign for cancer relapse after surgery with collection of repeated blood samples in the community
